About: At about 4.30 in the morning of April 18th, 1941, an RAF Hampden bomber which was supposed to be returning from a bombing mission to Germany crashed east of Blessington at Blackhill, Lacken. This documentary film, narrated mainly by Patrick Long, tells the story of the events surrounding the tragic crash. All four crewmen perished and were buried in St. Mary’s Churchyard, Blessington following a funeral with full military honours provided by the Irish army.

About: St. Kevin’s Church in Hollywood in West Wicklow is over 1000 years old and was used as a venue for the ‘Music Under the Mountains Festival’ in 1991. The Voice Squad sang there and found the natural sound quality of the church to be the best they had ever come across. They returned  later and recorded most of this disc there. The Voice Squad are a three-piece vocal group who sing ballads unaccompanied in the old traditional manner.

About: This is a music compact disc issued on the RTÉ Lyric FM label. The lyric tenor Dermot Troy had a brief but remarkable life. He did not study music until he was 22 years old, but regrettably died from a heart attack at the age of thirty-five. In the intervening years he shared a stage with the likes of Maria Callas, Joan Sutherland and Elizabeth Schwartzkopf and has come to be regarded as second only to Count John McCormack.
